How to Play Square Mahjong
Square Mahjong is a free online Mahjong Solitaire layout played with 144 tiles (288 for Double Play) arranged in the shape of a square. The goal is to clear the board by matching pairs of identical free tiles. A tile is free when it has no tile on top of it and at least one side (left or right) is open. Click two matching free tiles to remove them. Clear all tiles to win.
This layout is rated Medium with an average completion time around 5m. Use the Hint button if you are stuck, the Undo button to take back a move, and the Shuffle button when no more moves are available. Your best time is saved in your browser, so you can try to beat it on the next run.
Tips
Square is built from concentric rings, and the outer wall has to fall first — every match on the outside ring frees tiles in the ring inside it. Corners are the choke points: a corner tile only has two escape directions, so pair corners as soon as they open. Strip the rings evenly instead of clearing one side, or the inner square stays sealed.
