Nine clicks. That’s our entire Google click count for the site’s first weeks — and it spans five countries.
We could dress that up in percentages, but percentages of nine are silly. Counts are honest: the United States sent four clicks, Spain two, and Germany, Japan and Turkey one each. Mahjong solitaire is a genuinely global game, and even our tiny first sample refuses to stay in one language.
The non-English pages are punching early
Here’s the detail we didn’t expect. Of the five pages that earned named clicks, three are not in English: the German edition of our best free mahjong games list, the German Halloween Mahjong page, and a Spanish apps page. Our own page-view counter agrees — the first plays recorded on the site came through English, German and Spanish pages.
We launched in six languages on the bet that players prefer tiles in their own tongue. One month in, the non-English pages aren’t just along for the ride — they’re earning a majority of the named click pages. Small numbers, real signal.
Turkey, the country we don’t speak
And then there’s the Turkish click. We don’t have a Turkish version — that player landed on an English page anyway. One click proves nothing, but it’s exactly the kind of signal we watch: if a country keeps showing up in the data without a language to call its own, that’s how language number seven gets chosen.
Why six languages from day one
Mahjong solitaire has no home market — the tiles read the same in any language, but the instructions don’t. So FreeMahjongPlay speaks six: English, Español, 中文, Deutsch, Français and 日本語. Every game, every rules guide, every post — including the full games library.
Wherever the next click comes from, we’d like it to feel local.
