How to Play Tower Mahjong
Tower Mahjong is a free online Mahjong Solitaire layout played with 144 tiles (288 for Double Play) arranged in the shape of a tower. The goal is to clear the board by matching pairs of identical free tiles. A tile is free when it has no tile on top of it and at least one side (left or right) is open. Click two matching free tiles to remove them. Clear all tiles to win.
This layout is rated Hard with an average completion time around 7m. Use the Hint button if you are stuck, the Undo button to take back a move, and the Shuffle button when no more moves are available. Your best time is saved in your browser, so you can try to beat it on the next run.
Tips
Tower is a top-down game: the tall stacks lock away most of the tiles, so always prefer matches on the highest level available. Two stacks often hold the same tile — check both before committing one. Keep at least one side lane open as working space, because once every lane is blocked the remaining stacks jam fast.

Is Tower Mahjong good for beginners?
Tower is one of the tougher layouts — the tall stacks leave very few free tiles at the start. Beginners can still enjoy it, but expect to lose a few rounds before the top-down rhythm clicks. The Turtle layout is a gentler starting point.
What makes the Tower layout different from other layouts?
Height. Instead of spreading tiles across a wide pyramid, Tower concentrates them in vertical stacks, so almost every match cascades downward. The order of your moves matters more here than in any flat layout.
What is the best opening move in Tower Mahjong?
The highest available pair. A match near the top of a stack unlocks a chain of tiles below it, while a match at the base unlocks almost nothing.
What should I do when no moves are left in Tower Mahjong?
Tap Hint to surface a pair you missed — Tower boards hide matches between the stacks. If the stacks are truly jammed, Shuffle restacks the remaining tiles into playable positions.
How long does a game of Tower Mahjong take?
Plan for 10 to 20 minutes. Unwinding the stacks takes patience, and endgames can stall if the last tiles sit at the bottom of different stacks.
