How to Play Butterfly Mahjong
Butterfly Mahjong is a free online Mahjong Solitaire layout played with 144 tiles (288 for Double Play) arranged in the shape of a butterfly. The goal is to clear the board by matching pairs of identical free tiles. A tile is free when it has no tile on top of it and at least one side (left or right) is open. Click two matching free tiles to remove them. Clear all tiles to win.
This layout is rated Easy with an average completion time around 4m. Use the Hint button if you are stuck, the Undo button to take back a move, and the Shuffle button when no more moves are available. Your best time is saved in your browser, so you can try to beat it on the next run.
Tips
Butterfly is mirror-symmetric, and the far wing tips are the trap — they sit at the outer edges with very few escape routes, so clear them whenever they open up. The compact body in the center is a small stack worth saving for the endgame. Play both wings in parallel; draining one wing first leaves the other short of matches.
