Do I need my own mahjong set to join a club?
Usually not. Most clubs supply tiles and the current NMJL card for members and guests, so show up empty-handed.
Where can I play mahjong near me if my town has no clubs?
Try libraries, cafes, and senior centers first — most US groups play American Mahjong under NMJL rules. If nothing exists, start your own weekly group; NMJL chapters can help you get sanctioned.
How much does it cost to play in person?
Often nothing. Some clubs ask for a small yearly fee to cover the NMJL card and room rental, but casual drop-in nights are usually free.
